Summernats 24 2010

James Rees and ITS 253 once again showed you don’t need 500 cubes and a supercharger to be a serious contender in an all in no classes burnout comp.
James took out 3rd place overall after another solid skid. Standing in the grandstand listening to that Holden V8 turn those numbers it honestly sounded like one of the biggest engines out there. Well done once again James, you do Emma and I proud every time you hit the track.

Steve Loader and UCSMOKE, if there ever was a year for Steve to win Summernats this was it. With the 14-71 force fed PowerHouse 540 this was the car everyone hung around to see. After a spectacular fire in qualifying, and a sound of its own, Steve was the man to beat. Unfortunately  Summernats has a rule that if your car catches fire you are disqualified and as always due to high tyre and a rich alcohol tune, the inevitable happened. Sit back and watch the video and listen to that 540 turn 9000  and see what you think. Although you didn’t win Steve ask anyone in the crowd what they remember most from Summernats it is UCSMOKE.

Steve Titcomb and CRITTA, Steve has been to every Summernats from number 1 knows his way around the pad as good as anyone. Unfortunately Steve’s last few years have been plagued with engine woes. When Steve approached us to fix his old engine he told us reliability was a must. He got a PowerHouse  802 horsepower pump gas blown 468 cuber with 650 ft-lbs. In his first burn out with the new motor at Summernats he had the confidence to lean on it and not worry about s**t flying out of it, the result was what I call a top 5 skid that was disqualified because of tyre fire. Check out the photos the pictures tell a thousand words.

Leigh Rees and Big V8.The question on everybody’s lips,” What happened to BIG V8” I’ve got nothing to hide. After a 12 hour dyno session,1112 HP and 1000 ft-lbs a second at last years Summernats the crowd favourite  Leroy was the man to beat.40 seconds into the qualifying burnout the main fuel feed-line to the barrel valve blew off while the engine was at 7000.This shut the engine down. A weak ignition due to a flat battery looks like the cause of some hydrolocking wiping out some main bearings.

Bendigo resident and well known hot rod builder Ross Mayes took out top custom trim at this years Summernats. His beautiful 32 also made top 60 in the elite hall and also won Chicks Henry's Choice award. Last year Steve Loader won Chicks Choice award so that’s 2 years in a row for PowerHouse engine powered cars.

Perth Motivation 2010

How confident are these guys in there engines!
Both Steve and Leroy took up the offer to take their cars over to Perth for Motivation 24 held the following weekend after Summernats.
The cars had to be loaded into a container by 2pm Monday back home the day after Canberra. Steve’s car needed a back half paint job to fix the fire damage which was done believe it or not on time. Obvious Leigh could not go with a hurt engine so James his son took his place.

Loader was there for demo skids only and done one of the longest burnouts ever due to no wind and the smoke hanging around.

James Rees and ITS253 took out 2nd place overall with one of his best drives ever. His car control was brilliant and it was a real favourite amongst the Perth crowd.
James is putting the car away for 12 months as he and Sheree are expecting the birth of there first child in April.
Emma and I are so happy for them and wish them the best for there life changing experience.

Hey did you know we do tailshafts and boat Jack Shafts

For the past 6 months we have been doing engine and tailshaft  balancing. We can engineer shafts for all types of motor sports and now with our auto welding system we can achieve the best weld possible in one continuous run.

Judgment day is about to hit the water

Melbourne drag boat racer Lee Mackintosh is almost ready to unleash his new boat.
With just some plumbing and then some dyno time to go we will keep you informed how his 407 cube blown PHE small block goes.

LOADER WINS POWERCRUISE
Well done Steve on winning the biggest event held in Sydney.
You really deserve it after what happened at Canberra
Check out the video courtesy of AJs Modified car forums.
It’s hard to not say wow to a 9000 RPM Big block.

CRITTA WINS AUTOFEST IN COROWA 2010

On the same week end as Powercruise,  2 PowerHouse Engines win major events in two different states. I would like to thank my great staff  for a great start to the year and look forward to a big year ahead.
Also Leigh Rees and big V8 won Autofest last year in 2009 which makes it PowerHouse engines 2 years in a row.

Keep an eye out for Ross Heasley in the red HQ Coupe. With a new pump gas blown 350 ci small block making a cool 607HP with a flat tappet camshaft and a conservative tune up Ross will be worth looking out for. Ross can really drive and is thinking of converting the coupe to a drift car as well as running some low tens with his current set up. A pulley swap and some race fuel will see the engine make 14lbs of boost and push the car into the nines. Thank to Lou at Dandy Engines for the use of the dyno for the day.

Well done to the Guys at the Ultimate burnout challenge 2010.
Critta did well but dropped a tyre into the dirt wrecking his chances.
Steve Loader did 3 killer demo skids but could not compete as he was one of the promoters.
Surprise Packet of the weekend was good mate Brad Laidlaw who is new to the burnout scene and made top 20 against the countrie’s toughest cars.
Check out the video, now he has the bug he wants to build a blown engine, so if any one likes what they see, 15K will own it air cleaner to sump with MSD Ignition. Contact us if you are keen.

Look out for Critter in the yellow HQ Wagon at the 2010 Summernats in Canberra this year. With a new 802 Horsepower pump gas blown 468ci PowerHouse Engines big block, we think he might be a dark horse for the event.  We would also like to wish James and Lee Rees and Steve loader all the best,  and other competitors so the boys have some good competition.

Congratulations to James Petch for winning the 2009 Victorian Super Sedan series.
James finished on the podium in every round of the 9 round series, beating home a quality field of 14, 15 and 18 degree engines with his faithful std configuration 23 degree headed PowerHouse engine.
James also took out the National Australian speedway driver of the year award.
We wish James and his team the best of luck for the season and hope he can go back to back with the 2010 title.

Congratulations to James Rees for winning the 2009 Gazzanats naturally aspirated Burnout class. James kept his 292ci Holden V8 just under the 8000RPM limiter for the entire skid as always, proving that it is one the toughest wet sump Holden V8s in the country. James also came second in the Ultimate Burnout challenge 2009 against 80 hand picked burnout cars putting some of the countries toughest blown cars to shame.
We wish James all the best of luck for his quest for the 10 second bracket, and thank him for his help and input with our Holden V8 engine development program.
